Abstract
In the contemporary digital age, social media has emerged as one of the most influential and fastest means of communication, transforming the way information is produced, shared, and consumed. However, this rapid expansion of digital communication has also generated serious challenges, including fake news, misinformation, propaganda, character assassination, and the misuse of information technologies. This research paper examines the Qur’anic principles of news verification and responsible communication in the light of Surah Al-Hujurat (Verse 6) and explores their relevance to modern social media challenges. The study provides a detailed analytical review of the key Qur’anic concepts, including Jā’a-kum Fāsiqun (verification of the source), Naba’ (significant information), Fatabayyanu and Fatathabbatu (verification and caution), and Nādimeen (regret after harmful actions). It argues that the Qur’anic framework presents a comprehensive ethical model for information management, emphasizing source credibility, careful investigation, avoidance of haste, and protection of social harmony.Furthermore, the research analyzes practical examples from the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, including the incident of Banū Mustaliq, the Battle of Uhud, the Battle of Ahzab, and the incident of Ifk, to demonstrate the Prophetic methodology of crisis communication, fact-checking, and responsible information handling. The study highlights that the Prophetic approach was based on wisdom, verification, strategic decision-making, and prevention of social disorder. The findings reveal that the Qur’anic and Prophetic model of communication provides a timeless ethical framework for addressing contemporary digital problems. In the era of viral culture and instant sharing, the principles of verification, responsibility, and digital accountability derived from Islamic teachings can contribute significantly to creating a truthful, balanced, and morally responsible information environment
