Abstract

This study aims to analyze the theme of love poetry (ghazal) in the works of Abdullah Saeed Al-Bakistani, focusing on its two main forms: chaste love (ʿudhri ghazal) and explicit love poetry. The research adopts a descriptive-analytical approach through the examination of selected poetic texts and the analysis of their rhetorical and thematic dimensions. The findings reveal that ghazal occupies a prominent place in the poet’s literary experience, and that the figure of “Karshima” plays a central role in shaping his emotional and poetic expression. The study also highlights the clear presence of chaste love poetry characterized by sincerity, fidelity, and spiritual attachment, alongside explicit love poetry that expresses physical beauty and emotional desire more directly. The research concludes that Abdullah Saeed Al-Bakistani successfully employs the Arabic language to convey his emotional experience with remarkable poetic skill, presenting a distinguished example of a non-Arab poet contributing creatively to contemporary Arabic literature.
