Abstract

The relationship between religion and politics has played a significant role in the history of Pakistan, reflecting the process of Islamization in the country since its establishment. The process of Islamization encompasses a range of religio-political and socio-economic concepts, and the involvement of political and religious parties and leadership has considerable importance in facilitating this ideological transformation within society. The utilization of Islam by a significant number of governments for their political agendas, with the intention of achieving personal objectives, has had a profound impact on the social fabric of Pakistan. This research endeavors to examine the historical context that has led to the national discord, as well as provide an understanding of the complex and multifaceted concept of Islamization. the past 76 years, the realization of a Democratic Islamic state has remained elusive, hindered by the actions of self-interested authoritarian and religiopolitical leaders. The intersection of religion and politics has been a topic of scholarly inquiry, particularly in relation to the phenomenon of Islamization. The present study aims to examine and analyze the phenomenon under investigation in order to gain a comprehensive result. Subsequently, this analysis delves into the significance of Islam in the formulation of Pakistan's three constitutions spanning the period of 1947 to 1973.
